Hi. I just registered. Glad to see there are still S8 fans out there.
I just inherited my dad's Nikon Super Zoom-8 camera. I downloaded a manual for it to find out what kind of batteries it takes for the exposure meter. Manual says: two 1.3v mercury batteries. It's not more specific than that unfortunately.
I did a little search on the web and discovered that a company called Wein makes zinc batteries to replace the old mercury cells used in old cameras and meters. The Wein batteries are 1.35 volt and replace PX625/PX13, PX675 and RM400 batteries.
Would anyone happen to know whether a Wein 1.35 V battery would work in my camera? (1.35 volts is close to 1.3 volts -- but isn't exactly the same.) Anyone know which battery my Nikon was originally intended to use?
Thanks for any feedback!

I don't remember what my camera takes, but I've gotten replacements at the local drug store, so they're nothing special or hard to find.
